Weird Beauty Tips!!

Hello! I am going to share some weird beauty tips that I have heard and tried myself.

The first one is Pepto-Bismol beauty face mask. Yup! You read it correct the stomach remedy is great for skin. It can exfoliate the dead skin and help with whiteheads and blackheads. Just two tablespoons of Pepto-Bismol, apply it on your face, leave it for 20 mins (it will dry), and rinse it of with lukewarm water.

The next weird beauty tip is washing your hair with beer. Try it! This will make your hair softer and shinier. You can shampoo and rinse, and then pour the beer on your head. Do not rinse after pouring the beer. Leave it in your hair overnight and rinse it off in the morning for shiny hair.

Use milk as a moisturizer. Milk works great to make your skin soft and helps reduce the dark spots. Apply milk with cotton ball on your face. Let it dry and leave it overnight. Wash your face with lukewarm water in the morning and you will notice that skin is soft and glowing!

Dry and flaky hands?? No worries! This tip will make your hands soft and younger looking immediately. You just have to dip your hands in olive oil for a minute or two. Wash your hands with warm water and soap.

To revive your face glow, just dunk your face in ice water. This will hurt, but remember BEAUTY IS PAIN!

Got a pimple before a big event? Dab on a little toothpaste and it will help kill the germs. The redness will disappear and your breakout will be less inflamed and noticeable. Click here to check out Black Pepper Treatment for Acne.

DIY- Coffee Body Scrub

Cellulite got you down? I am here with a cheap and effective body scrub you can make at home that not only exfoliates your body, but also helps reduce the appearance of cellulite by plumping your skin.

You will need-
2 tablespoons olive oil
5 tablespoons brown sugar
5 tablespoons coffee or coffee grounds

I used coffee with cinnamon in it. Cinnamon is beneficial to skin because it plumps up the skin, helps with eczema and acne, and helps bring nutrients and blood to the skin surface.

Mix all the ingredients together and rub it gently on your skin. The consistency of scrub should be gritty. Use this scrub on arms, legs, elbows or anywhere you have rough skin. This scrub will also energize you. Shower it off and don't forget to moisturize your skin afterwards.

This scrub is the cheapest alternative to expensive cellulite creams and exfoliating scrubs. For best results, use it once a week.

DIY- Spring Nails 2013- Tracy Reese Inspired Triangle Nail Art

I was surfing the internet and I came across this slideshow- Best Spring 2013 Runway Nails. I really liked Tracy Reese runway nail art. I decided to do it myself and turned out pretty good.

This look is very easy to accomplish so let's get started!
Pick two of your favorite nail colors- I am using NYC-Sidewalkers as base and Sinful Colors- Canary Yellow for the triangle. There are two ways to do this nail art. You can make your triangles free hand (as I did). If you want stenciled look then try tape and scissors tip.
Apply 2 coats of base color of your choice first. Let it dry fully and make a triangle with the second color of your choice. Wait for it to dry and apply top coat.

I added glitter for fun!

For stenciled look, tear a piece of tape and cut a triangle using scissors. Place the tape onto your nail and press it down. Apply the second color of your choice and take the tape off when it is completely dry. Add clear top coat.

Have fun painting your nails!

Recipe- Panang Curry

I love Thai food and Panang is my favorite curry. Today I am sharing how I make Panang Curry, it is not that  complicated as it might sound. My version is super easy and quick. This recipe will serve 4-5.

Ingredients-
2 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion- sliced
3 cloves crushed garlic
1/2 cup green/yellow/red/ peppers- sliced
1/2 cup mushrooms
1 14 oz can coconut milk
1 8 oz can coconut cream
2-3 dried red chilies (skip this if you don't want your curry to be spicy)
9-10 basil leaves
1 cup diced fried/fresh tofu or 1 cup diced chicken/meat
2 kaffir lime leaves or bay leaves
4 tablespoons panang curry paste
2 tablespoons fish sauce (I don't like the smell of it so I don't use it)
1/2  tablespoon palm sugar
Salt to taste (if needed)

Directions-
  • Add olive oil in large pan, add garlic in hot oil and add panang paste when garlic turns into light brown/golden color
  • Add coconut milk and coconut cream, and mix it well with the paste. Let it sit for 1-2 on medium high heat. Add kaffir lime leaves.
  • Add veggies, tofu (chicken/meat), soy sauce, palm sugar, and fish sauce.
  • Add basil leaves and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Check the consistency (thick or thin) of curry according to your preference. Just boil down the gravy until it's thickened to your liking.
  • Before you remove it from heat, if you are using chicken or meat, make sure it's cooked properly by taking the large piece and cutting it into half.

Serve hot with rice. Enjoy!

Review- The Body Shop Seaweed Iconic Clay Mask

I am a very big fan of face masks! I like to try new masks every now and then, but there are some masks I really really really love. One of them would be The Body Shop Seaweed Iconic Clay Mask.

I have been using it for two years now. I use it once every two weeks. It helps detoxify the skin, actually, you'll be able to see the oil appearing on dried mask. I don't have oily skin, but I use it for deep cleansing purposes. I recommended this to one of my friends with oily and acne-prone skin, she loved it and I noticed improvement in her skin appearance. Some people can dislike the smell but I think it smells fresh.

If you want to improve your skin appearance and you have combination/oily skin...this is the mask for you!

Pimple- Don't Panic! Black Pepper Acne Treatment

Okay so let's imagine you have an important event coming up in the morning and you see a zit, a pimple or maybe a spot on your face a night before. There is nothing to panic about because I am sharing very old but very effective ways to get rid of zit overnight.

The first treatment is very simple, easy and quick. All you need is ground black pepper (yes, you read it correct) and water.
Pinch of black pepper and few drops of water, mix together and dab it on the zit. Let it dry and wash it off in the morning. It will help reduce the redness.

For the next acne mask, you will need-
1 Tablespoons Ground Black Pepper
1 Tablespoon Plain Yogurt
Pinch of Turmeric
1/2 Tablespoon Honey

Mix everything together and apply it on your face. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water while gently massaging your face. This masks helps with acne and blackheads. CAUTION- Your skin might feel tingling as it gets deep into pores because of black pepper. For best results, repeat this treatment once a week for bright complexion and glowing skin.

Later! Have fun!

Water- Anytime Anywhere Fashion Accessory!

Hello! We all know how important water is for better digestion, weight-loss, staying healthy and so on. Basically, water is essential for human body to function.
Honestly, I never liked drinking water. To me, it was always tasteless...so plain...boring...and list goes on and on. But recently, I find a way to drink more water and I amazed myself with how much more water I drink than before.

So what's changed? Well, there is no magic number I just used a simple trick
of using a STRAW.

Sip up your water...gulping all that water can seem daunting. Do yourself a favor and get a package of straws or pick up a water bottle with built-in straw.

It is an affordable and easy step that you can take towards healthy lifestyle.

BONUS TIP- Add warm water with lemon to your daily morning ritual it can help with weight loss.

Happy water drinking! Later!

Summer is starting soon! Can't wait! So I am going to share one of my favorite drinks everrrrrr...Mango Lassi! It's refreshing, sweet, and a perfect cooler on a hot summer day. It takes 5 or less than 5 minutes to make it  :) Lets's get started! This recipe will make about 3-4 glasses...what you need-

3 glasses of plain yogurt (I usually use Greek yogurt)
Ice- however much you like :)
1 glass of ripe mango puree or pulp
Sugar to taste

Now all you have to do is put everything in blender and VOILA! You are done! :D You can enjoy it with silvered almonds on top as garnish!

DIY- The Great Gatsby Headband for Cheap!!!

When I watched The Great Gatsby couple weeks ago I was amazed with fabulous art deco headpiece.

When I came home I looked up the headband and I was shocked after realizing how expensive this headpiece actually is. At Etsy, the price for this headpiece range from $150 to $600. Who would pay that much money just for a headband?...I absolutely will not!

So I looked at the headband closely and there is nothing to it...I am so inspired by this band and I believe you all can make it at home for so much less and it will be more wearable :)

You will need-
1 Lace Headband (preferably embroidered with pearls and stones)--You can easily find this hair accessory on Ebay for $1-$2

1 Pearl button

1 Pearl/Stone brooch--Easily available on Ebay price starting from $0.01

3 Beads Strands (Pearl/rhinestones)-1-2 inches long depending on how much dangling you like!

All you have to do is stitch the button on the top of headband, and brooch and 3 beads on the bottom side. All three (button, brooch and strands) should sew together...you can decide the side, left or right, according to your preference.

You can get the similar looking headband for so cheap....probably under $5. You can play with colors, textures, and even style. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! :D

Oh before ordering any of the products needed/mentioned for this DIY online, make sure to check your local thrift store. What place can be better to find vintage accessories than thrift stores!

Have fun styling it!
